How to Apply Sugar Wax

Waxing is a popular solution for hair removal. Whether you’re preparing for a beach vacation in Hawaii or prefer to have silky smooth skin on a more regular basis, waxing can certainly help.

When it comes to removing hair in our most sensitive areas like armpits, face, and our bikini line, sugar waxing is just what you need. Designed to give you a gentle, and easy hair removal experience, sugar waxing is an excellent choice for achieving great results at home. Read on to find out more about sugar wax, how it’s used, and some of our favourite at-home products that we recommend for you to try.

What is Sugar Wax?

Veet® PURE Sugar Wax, is made with 100% ingredients of natural origin. Compared to most traditional wax products, Veet’s Sugar Wax Kits are made with as little as 5 ingredients. When warmed up the heat produced from the sugar wax can bind better to the hair to pull it out by its root without irritating the skin.

Sugaring is preferred for people with sensitive skin or delicate areas of the body such as the bikini line, underarms, or face.

How to Use Sugar Wax (Step-by-Step)

To help you achieve the best results for long-lasting smooth skin, follow our step-by-step guide for sugar waxing.

Step 1: Heat the wax

Following instructions, decide how you’re going to heat the wax: in a pan of boiling water or in the microwave. Once the wax is heated, use the end of the spatula with the blue square (temperature indicator) to stir the wax for about a minute and check the temperature. You’ll notice that the sugar wax will turn into a gummy-like paste when it’s ready. If it becomes too runny, you may need to let it cool off for a few minutes before applying.

Step 2: Spread the wax

Using your spatula, spread the wax evenly over your skin in thin layers. For best results, spread the wax in the same direction as the hair growth.

Step 3: Apply the strip

Place the strip over the wax and smooth out in the same direction as hair growth for optimal adhesion.

Step 4: Wax off

Hold the skin taut. Grip the bottom end of the strip, and pull the strip back as quickly as you can, against the direction the hair grows. Pull the strip back on itself, close to the skin rather than away from it. You can re-use each strip even if wax is already stuck to it. But don’t wax over the same area more than once. Repeat steps 2-4 until you’re satisfied with the results.

Step 5: Clean up & moisturize

If you have any residue left on your skin, simply use water to remove it and use your favourite moisturizer for a beautiful finish to your wax routine!
