Shower After Wax - What you Need to Know

Waxing is one of the best ways to remove unwanted hair and keep it from growing back for weeks. But as with any kind of hair removal, there are a few rules you need to follow or else you could end up with some pretty nasty bumps on your skin. In this article, we'll take a look at if you can shower before wax, how soon after waxing can you take a bath or shower, and what happens if your skin isn't moisturised after getting rid of those pesky little hairs.

What happens if you don't exfoliate before waxing?

You'll be left with some pretty nasty side effects, including acne and ingrown hairs so it's important to keep your skin smooth and exfoliated to avoid getting any bumps or irritation. This can be tricky because you need to make sure that your skin isn't too dry before waxing – otherwise, it will pull on the hairs more than necessary. If your skin is too oily or sweaty, then they won't stick as well either!

So, remember: Always exfoliate first before waxing!

Can I take a shower or a bath after waxing?

You can shower after waxing, which helps to get rid of the little bumps that may appear after the hair grows back. If you don’t shower right away, you might end up with stubble and some ingrown hairs. Use lukewarm water and some natural soap around two hours after your wax. Gently rub the area with a washcloth or loofah sponge until all traces of wax residue have been removed.

But wait at least 24hrs after waxing before you take a bath. The heat will intensify any post-wax irritation and redness and will dry out your skin and open up your pores (leading to ingrown hairs).

Should you moisturise after waxing?

Your skin will be in a state of trauma after you get waxed. It's not just that it's sore, but it can also be red and inflamed for hours to come.

So what do you need to do? Moisturise! This is especially important if you have very sensitive skin or live in a cold climate. In these cases, moisturiser is necessary not just after your appointment but at least once a day until the irritation goes away.

Get rid of those little bumps by taking a shower after waxing.

Taking a shower after wax is important to remove any remaining wax and dead skin cells. This will help prevent ingrown hairs and bumps, as well as keep your skin fresh and smooth. The sooner you take a shower after waxing, the better!
