Ways to remove unwanted Facial Hair Removal

Hair growth is completely normal. And yes, even on your face. Depending on your preference however, you may opt to remove the hair on your face. Whether it's your upper lip, eyebrows, chin, or sideburns there are a variety of ways you can remove any unwanted hair. Here are some tried and tested methods:

Waxing

Waxing is a very common technique used for facial hair removal. While its a common routine that most people invest in within beauty salons, waxing at home is just as easy! There are two different types of waxes. Hot wax, that is warmed and distributed evenly over the skin and in the direction of the hair growth. Once the wax cools it traps the hair and it’s quickly pulled off to pull the hair out of the follicles. Cold wax, typically exists in the form of strips that are patted onto the skin and then peeled off. Prior to waxing, exfoliation can help the prevention of ingrown hairs.

Veet offers a variety of options for your unique skin type and your unique hair removal needs.

For smaller surfaces, Veet® Professional™ Wax Strips, Face, Bikini & Underarm, For Sensitive Skin, with Almond Oil*, is perfect for removing hair from your cheeks, chin and upper lip. The EasyGrip™ tab will help you get the right angle and keep a firm grip.

Shaving

Yet another common DIY facial hair removal method is using a razor to shave it off. However, facial shaving is different from shaving your legs. The key is to remember to always shave in the direction of hair growth. But facial hair in particular can grow in different ways, so make sure that if there is any pain or targeting to change the direction for that spot and get used to switching depending on the hair growth. As in any case, hair removal requires prep. Having a shower prior or steaming your face can help loosen the skin around your hair follicles for a cleaner and more precise shave. Prepping with oils can also help soften your hair.

Always ensure your tools are clean and new to maximize your hair removal.

Tweezing

Tweezing is definitely another familiar hair removal method. However, this method is probably best saved for your eyebrows. When tweezing it’s important to use the right pair of tweezers and the right technique to minimize pain. Any tweezers that are breaking the hair may not be the right fit. The purpose of tweezing is to pull the entire hair out at its root. This means you should be aiming to get the bulb at the base. Experts recommend using tweezers at a slant for higher precision and reduce the chances of nicking your skin. To minimize pain, wash and exfoliate your skin beforehand, then once ready to tweeze hold your skin taut gently with one hand as you tweeze with the other.

Tweezing typically works best if you have enough hair to work with. Tweezing hairs that have not grown up just encourages it to grow back faster.

Threading

Similar to tweezing and waxing, threading aims to remove the hair from its root. Threading is performed with a cotton thread, which is doubled, twisted, and rolled over the target area to trap unwanted hair and remove it from its base. While we encourage you to leave it to the professionals as it can be a little frustrating finding the right angles and accurately removing the hair yourself. For optimal results make sure that skin is well moisturized so that the thread can glide smoothly across
