Your Waxing Questions, Answered

New to waxing? Have no fear, Veet® is here to provide you with the best products and answers to frequently asked questions so that you are able to wax easily right from the comfort of your home.

  1. Does waxing hurt?

This is the most common question from anyone who is contemplating waxing as a method of hair removal. The truth is, it can be uncomfortable. However, the more you wax, the less it will hurt because your body not only adapts to the waxing process but your hair follicles will also begin to get weaker. [1]

It is also important to note that everyone manages pain differently and some people may be more sensitive in certain areas than others. Using products such as   make it easy to wax even for those who are inexperienced! Start by using  and discover a Veet wax product that best suits you and your skin.

  2. What are the benefits of waxing?

While there are so many different ways to remove unwanted hair, waxing is certainly one of the best for longer lasting results. The main benefit of waxing is the ability to stay smoother for much longer - up to 28 days with Veet products.[2] Depending on how fast your hair grows, you may only need to wax once every three to four weeks. Also, in most cases, the hair grows back much finer. [2]

  3. How do I prepare before waxing?

There are a few things to remember before you begin. First, gently exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells.[3]Next, make sure your skin is clean and dry. Lastly, we recommend trimming any hair that is much longer than a quarter of an inch.[3] By doing so, you will decrease the chance of discomfort during the hair removal process. Make sure to follow the Veet instructions included in every package when using one of our wax products.

  4. What if I accidentally put wax on an area that I don’t want to remove hair from?

If you happen to get wax on an area by accident, there are ways to remove it. The wax will need to be melted to be removed. Here’s what to do: wrap the area with a paper towel, heat with a hair dryer starting at the most comfortable temperature setting, remove the paper towel, and repeat until wax is removed.[4]The heat from the hair dryer will melt the wax which will then absorb into the paper towel. If there is any wax left in the hair, use warm water and hair conditioner to loosen and remove the wax.[4]

  5. Will I be red after waxing?

As everyone has unique skin types, we can expect a variety of reactions to different products. That being said, most people will prepare themselves to see temporary mild redness and irritation to the skin that has just been waxed. [5]After a recent wax, your skin may react differently to your usual skin care products. For that reason, we suggest staying away from alcohol-based products after waxing. If the area is tender, apply a cool compress.[5] To prevent ingrown hairs and pimples, we recommend that you gently exfoliate the skin and follow up with a good moisturizer.[2]

There you have it. Waxing is often much easier than most expect, especially with Veet products!
